| Location: Logan,Ut,United States Member Since: Jul 14, 2013 Gender: Male Goal Type: Other Running Accomplishments: My very first race was the Top of Utah Half Marathon. I finished in 01:29:45. Even though it wasn't amazing, I took 3rd place in my age division which was a huge accomplishment for myself. After that I did a large amount of 5 and 10K's, Ragnar's, etc. In 2012 I put together and Ultra Ragnar Team. After this I started to focus on shorter races and worked towards running track with Utah State University. As I was getting close to running with the team, I met Cody Draper. He introduced me to trail running....I'm now a trail runner! Just did my first ultra marathon two weeks ago...Logan Peak. I finished in 5th place and got under my goal of 5 hours.
Short-Term Running Goals: In the next two years, I'd like to run a 50K and a 50 miler. If those two races go well, I'd like to do the Bear 100 in 2 years from this summer. Long-Term Running Goals: I'm not sure how much of a goal this is...it's more of a wish that's way towards the stars. I'd like to eventually get good enough that I have offers to be sponsored as a runner. But my actual long term goals are:
1. A 100 miler 2. Win an ultra marathon. 3. Be apart of the 80 year old marathon runner club Personal: I'm single! The only exciting thing going on in my life is I'm getting into trail running! |

| Did an awesome run with Cody. Went from Smithfield canyon (my first time up there) and took the ridge to Naomi Peak. Very slow considering there really wasn't a trail. Then headed down into Tony Grove, and looped around to the first of the seven sisters....then headed back down Smithfield. Awesome day

| Did a solid 18 miles today. Went from Prov canyon over to Logan Peak. On the way up I took the ridge up to the peak. Then headed down the road and looped back. Went up at a pretty good pace. Feeling very ready for wasatch.

| Did Cornish Peak toay (Bergeson Hill). This area is technically private property. The signs aren't posted the greatest however. It makes it look like the road is public while the land is private (I know that isn't true, but if I ever get caught, that's what I'll say). It was fun seeing were that dirt road went to. Exactly 5 miles from my house to the peak. Good vert for Cornish.

| Mosquitos suck....I was running by the Cornish canal for a lot of the run....and I got bit by at least 20 mosquitos. They swarmed my body whenever I went slower than an 8:00 average pace.

| Went camping at White Pine lake last night with Jordan, Austin and Sarah. My cousin Tom wanted to meet at Tony Grove at 6:30 to join me for some miles. So, I left White Pine at six and headed up to Tony grove. On my way over.....I saw my first bobcat. It was pretty freaky...especially when it disappeared after I took my eyes off it for 5 seconds. We went from Tony Grove to Blind hollow...went down, came back up, then headed over to the ridge above smithfield canyon...cut over to Naomi...then headed down. Beast of a run. Tom did great.

| Did a new area tonight. Started at Franklin and headed up to Steam Mill Lake. After that we (Cody and Erik joined) headed over to White Pine trail via Shorty's Cutoff. It was a way cool trail. Lots of fun. Erik started screaming and cussin at one point on the way down...I was very confused. He started stripping his watch off and was just yelling like crazy. A hornet of some sort got under his watch and was stinging him. Poor guy

| Today was awesome, and crappy. Decided to try a new loop: The Bovine Sincline. A loop up the face of the mtn. south of Prov Canyon, which loops over to the waterfall up Prov Canyon, then heads down to the parking lot. I decided to be ambitious and do it twice. Cody bet I couldn't do it in under 4 hours. Had to prove him wrong. The first loop rocked. Did it in an hour and 55 minutes. I had energy, adrenaline, and motivation. But....I had 1 bottle of water...total. I had to make that last for both loops. On the way up the face the 2nd time....I bonked....HARD. I felt like I was going to pass out a couple of times. On the way down Prov to the waterfall, I decided to head a different way, thinking it would be better than the first way I went down. Boy....I was wrong. The road just ended. I didn't want to head back up. So I tried cutting across. It was terrible. Very steep, very rocky, very bushy.....it was awful. I fell and broke my 40 dollar water bottle. I popped out above a waterfall that I didn't know was up Prov....I thought there were only two....now I know there is three. I was so thirsty....so, I observed the waterfall...it looked like it came out of the mountain. So, I drank a lot. It felt great. I didn't get under 4 hours....maybe next time

| Sarah ran the TOU half today. I wanted to support her at the finish line. So, I got up at 4:00 a.m. and went on a run to Logan Peak. Went up Prov Canyon, took the ridge over to the peak, then headed down the road. I was feeling pretty good. Did it 10 minutes faster than last time. I was pretty nervous going up. Super dark. Saw a lot of eyes reflecting in my headlamp. I survived though so that's good.
Sarah finished in 1 hour and 54 minutes. I'm so proud!
