| Location: Logan,Ut,United States Member Since: Jul 14, 2013 Gender: Male Goal Type: Other Running Accomplishments: My very first race was the Top of Utah Half Marathon. I finished in 01:29:45. Even though it wasn't amazing, I took 3rd place in my age division which was a huge accomplishment for myself. After that I did a large amount of 5 and 10K's, Ragnar's, etc. In 2012 I put together and Ultra Ragnar Team. After this I started to focus on shorter races and worked towards running track with Utah State University. As I was getting close to running with the team, I met Cody Draper. He introduced me to trail running....I'm now a trail runner! Just did my first ultra marathon two weeks ago...Logan Peak. I finished in 5th place and got under my goal of 5 hours.
Short-Term Running Goals: In the next two years, I'd like to run a 50K and a 50 miler. If those two races go well, I'd like to do the Bear 100 in 2 years from this summer. Long-Term Running Goals: I'm not sure how much of a goal this is...it's more of a wish that's way towards the stars. I'd like to eventually get good enough that I have offers to be sponsored as a runner. But my actual long term goals are:
1. A 100 miler 2. Win an ultra marathon. 3. Be apart of the 80 year old marathon runner club Personal: I'm single! The only exciting thing going on in my life is I'm getting into trail running! |

| Decided to go for a long run today. Boy was it hot. My arms and face are pretty fried. I started at First Dam and took the BST over to Green. Then headed all the way up to the fence. Then I headed back to first dam and drank some water which was in my car. Then i headed up to third dam and turned around to come back. My legs were pretty sore but I went at an alright pace. Saw a huge snake on the trail up green....I hate snakes and am not looking forward to them coming out. Then in the evening Stone wanted to go for a mtn bike ride up the river trail. So we went...but, I went at a pretty sore pace. Legs were dead. Time 1:03:18, Elevation 771 ft, 8.6 miles

| Was planning on doing a shorter trail run today... 6-7 miles. But the person who drove me to work was really backed up. So, I threw on my Pearls and started running towards home. I got four miles in before he drove by. I then got in the car and called it good. 81 miles in a week is a new record for me. Hope next week goes just as awesome! Also I went mtn biking for work. We went up Prov. The boys were going really slow so I'm just going to skip the numbers for that ride.

| Well, school is out for the summer! So I decided to go for a long run before work today. The goal was to do 30 miles...and I made it! I started out going from first dam over to green canyon. I then headed up to the fence. Once I got to the top I turned around and headed back to first dam. As I got to the upper canal trail, I decided to head up towards second dam. Once I got there I turned around and headed back to the car. When I got back it was mile 17. I got water and food then headed back out. I decided to make it simple and do BST to the top of green and back again. The weather was excellent for a 30 miler.

| My legs were SORE today. If I was to judge my work out based off of how hard I was breathing, I didn't even work out. My legs were dead and I felt like I physically couldn't go faster than I was going...even if I absolutely wanted to go faster. I went from the temple and took the canal trail to first dam. Then took the river trail to the single track.

| Went on a slower and easier run today to be ready for tomorrow's long run. Went from the apt to halfway up green canyon. Got a little windy and rainy for the last two miles.

| Woke up this morning to rain. I was thinking that I would go about ten miles shorter than planned because of how wet it was. But by nine it started to stop raining. So, I headed out. Currently my car has a flat tire so I just started from my apartment. I went up to the BST and headed to first dam. Then I took the upper canal trail and connected to the River trail. Then I started heading to Crimson trail. By about second dam it started to rain again. But I figured a little rain wouldn't hurt. I started heading up the Crimson trail and by the time I got to the top it started to pour. It even started to start dropping those weird hard flakes of snow. The wind picked up. I tripped over a rock and broke the strap to my water bottle while cutting my knee up. I was then all muddy and bloody. I started feeling pretty miserable (not to mention my legs were DEAD tired by mile 8). So, about 3/4 of the way through the Crimson trail I decided to call it good and head back. My plan was to do the whole Crimson trail and then head up to Beardnieu Peak. But, I figured considering everything, 21 miles for the day would do. But by the time I got back to second dam it started to clear up again. So, when I got over to green canyon, I headed up and did that whole trail (to the fence). By the time I got back to my apartment, it started to rain again. This definitely wasn't the funnest run but it was a great training run for the Bear 100.

| Did a nice easy run on my vacation. Was in St. George today. My buddies were exploring Dixie rock area so I decided to run some of it. Did the Pioneer Hills run. It was supposed to be a loop but I didn't want to work too much today. Good run with nice new views

| This week I'm on my cruise! I brought my shoes just in case I wanted to go for a run. The ship went to Catalina Island today. So I decided to check the area out. I went to the visitor info. booth and they gave me a map. The Trans Catalina Trail, 37 miles, was supposed to go over the whole island. So I decided to check out what I could. I was so amazed at how much easier it was to breath at sea level. It was such a difference. The island was so pretty. So much to see. I was trying to find some monument on the trail but it would've been an extra four miles to get to it and I was SUPER HOT. I was so thirsty and didn't have water. So I headed back. I could've went faster but I seriously thought I was going to collapse from lack of water. But I made it. Took my shirt off which was stupid...I got a narly sun burn. Great run. I'm going to try and add pictures.

| Decided to get right back into things after a week off. Did BST to green canyon twice. I was moving fairly slow but overall finished at a good pace. At first it was a little windy and rainy. But it was a great way to get back into running.

| Ran with the "Pearl Gang" tonight (all four of us were wearing Pearls). Fan, Cody, Joe any myself all got together and went for a run. We did the Ricks/Steel Hollow loop. We went at a fairly good pace. On the way down there were deep patches of snow randomly on the trail. It was fun to run through that heading down hill. Almost ate it a couple of times. Great night for a run.

| Kept it shorter and flater tonight. JJ from work joined me. He used to be a dang intense runner. 4:18 mile, 32 min 10k, 2:40 marathon. But he stopped running and lost some of his speed and endurance. He joined me today though. He did fairly well. If he keeps it up he'll be back to normal in no time. We did the canal trail from the temple to the end of the upper canal trail.

| Today was a long run with Cody. We did the Ricks Canyon to Richards Hollow run. Had my usual morning sickness that I get when I run with Cody. Felt super dead the whole run. Needed to puke the whole run. The views and scenery were great though. During the Richards Hollow section we were able to run through the river a few times. That felt so good. Not a lot happened.

| Went to a friends cabin last night by bear lake. Woke up this morning and went for a trail run around the mountains in Garden City. It wasn't my most favorite run. There were a lot of branch off's and many of the trails I took ended randomly. My legs were also super super super tired from Saturday's run. The highlight of the run was at the first: saw a cow moose on the trail. I probably got within 20 ft of it. It finally just turned around and trotted off. Very hot run. Got a nice burn on the arms

| Did a slower run today. Went from the Canal trail by the temple and took the BST trail over to green canyon. Then I went up the south face of green. I can now say that I am going to wait a very long time before I go up the south face of green again. It isn't fun at all. You go just as slow (pretty much) going down as you do going up. But it was good to get some climbing in

| Did Jardine Juniper with "the gang." Cody said we were going to take it easy on this run...but, unless I am super out of shape (which is a possibility) we didnt' take it that easy. Going up Joe was leading the pack and he was going at a pretty quick pace (for sore legs at least). We got to the top and did a second loop. On the way down, I started feeling really good and wanted to push myself. So, I got in front of Joe and led the way. We went at a pretty quick pace on the way down. 4 miles at a pace quicker than 6:30 per mile. It was a good run.

| Did a shorter Saturday run today with Cody and Joe. Next week is the Scout Mtn 100k so we began taking it easy today. Did the Old Ephraim Memorial Loop. Went at an avg pace. Went pretty quick on the way down however. Great run overall.
