| Location: Logan,Ut,United States Member Since: Jul 14, 2013 Gender: Male Goal Type: Other Running Accomplishments: My very first race was the Top of Utah Half Marathon. I finished in 01:29:45. Even though it wasn't amazing, I took 3rd place in my age division which was a huge accomplishment for myself. After that I did a large amount of 5 and 10K's, Ragnar's, etc. In 2012 I put together and Ultra Ragnar Team. After this I started to focus on shorter races and worked towards running track with Utah State University. As I was getting close to running with the team, I met Cody Draper. He introduced me to trail running....I'm now a trail runner! Just did my first ultra marathon two weeks ago...Logan Peak. I finished in 5th place and got under my goal of 5 hours.
Short-Term Running Goals: In the next two years, I'd like to run a 50K and a 50 miler. If those two races go well, I'd like to do the Bear 100 in 2 years from this summer. Long-Term Running Goals: I'm not sure how much of a goal this is...it's more of a wish that's way towards the stars. I'd like to eventually get good enough that I have offers to be sponsored as a runner. But my actual long term goals are:
1. A 100 miler 2. Win an ultra marathon. 3. Be apart of the 80 year old marathon runner club Personal: I'm single! The only exciting thing going on in my life is I'm getting into trail running! |

| Was planning on taking the week off....but, I got off work early...Cody was doing 11 miles and taking down course markings from the Bear...so, I naturally joined. I felt much better than I expected. Still went pretty slow...but faster than I thought I could go. Knee was tender but it didn't kill. The sky was amazing. Saw some snow in a few places. Also mtn biked today for work.

| Did the River Trail. I suprisingly moved fairly quick. I didn't go my absolute fastest but I was able to move. I recovered from the Bear much quicker than I thought. Time to be ready for my marathon next weekend

| Today is my 16 hour work day...usually don't run. But, next weekend I'm doing a marathon with him...and he hasn't ran more than 10 miles. Ha, so today for work I took him on a 15 mile run up Logan Canyon. Did part of the River Trail and then got on the highway (sense the marathon is a road run). He did great for the first 10 miles...but then he bonked...a lot. Ha I'm kinda worried about next weekend. Gonna take him for a 12 miler or so on Saturday.

| Did a hike today with Nic and Austin. We did Deep Canyon and went to the top. I was the leader. Definitely went slower than I would have on a "run" but we still went pretty quick. They were huffing and puffing. On the way down I was going slow...but for the final 2 miles I left them and ran. Great hike

| Did a run with Nuckles today. I was very very sore and was expecting to go super slow. But Nuckles pushed me and we actually went pretty quick. Quicker than I felt like going. Prov Canyon was super pretty today.

| I was feeling pretty awesome today. I started running Green with the intent of getting in the 7's for pace. But, I was cruising (more than I have in a long long time). So, I set out for the course record. I got to the top of the trail with a 7:39 pace...and I was pretty proud of that. On the way down, I got it down to 6:59...I'm very happy to know I still can run faster if I feel good. Great run.

| Today was the day. The boy from work had his marathon today. I didn't mark this as a race cause we went a lot slower than my pace. I was just there for support. FYI....I hate roads. I've never ran this much on the road before actually....so that was a first for me. The first 20 miles he was killing it. But, the back of his left leg was cramping a lot. That slowed him down. But, I was there to push him. He would've gotten a lot slower if I wasn't there pushing him to run. It was a good experience. All the other boys were waiting for him at the finish line and ran it in with us. It was a great experience overall. Kinda sucked however getting passed and going slower than I was capable. Oh well.

| Went for a run up Smithfield Dry Canyon today. I've decided that Flat Top is my favorite peak in the valley. So I wanted to go up there one more time before it snowed. For some reason my watch died. There should have been a good 10 hours on it still...I don't know what happened. But on the way up I spotted some bear poop...that was comforting. On the way down, it started to get dark. I stopped running at one point on the way back cause I heard a noise. I listened around and heard an animal walking through the leaves. It would walk whenever I moved but stopped whenever I stopped. I through a rock in the trees hoping it would walk when the rock made a noise...it did move. It definitely was a bigger animal...at that point, I got very afraid and bolted off. The last 20 minutes I was cruising. Very creepy way to end.

| Ran with Cody and Fan today. We went up Birch Canyon and went up to Flat Top. The top was very windy...but great views. We then headed over to Mt. Jardine. That was awesome. The top reminded me of Angels Landing. It was rocky, fairly high up, and thin. With the wind blowing, it was quite freaky a couple of times. But it was awesome. We then headed over to Mt. Elmer. At this point, I was exhausted....so was Cody and Fan. As we turned around to head back, I started out fast....but, as we got further down, Cody and Fan took off...I was very very tired. Great run

| Did Prov Canyon with Nuckles today. We did it twice. He and I are completely different runners. He kills it on the uphill (he goes way too fast...heart rate in the 170's all the time) but is slow on the downhill. I'm the exact opposite. I was dying trying to keep up with him heading up. Eventually I realized it was just plain stupid going at his speed so I slowed down. Beautiful day
