Running Accomplishments:

My very first race was the Top of Utah Half Marathon.  I finished in 01:29:45.  Even though it wasn't amazing, I took 3rd place in my age division which was a huge accomplishment for myself.  After that I did a large amount of 5 and 10K's, Ragnar's, etc.  In 2012 I put together and Ultra Ragnar Team.  After this I started to focus on shorter races and worked towards running track with Utah State University.  As I was getting close to running with the team, I met Cody Draper.  He introduced me to trail running....I'm now a trail runner!  Just did my first ultra marathon two weeks ago...Logan Peak.  I finished in 5th place and got under my goal of 5 hours.

Short-Term Running Goals:

In the next two years, I'd like to run a 50K and a 50 miler.  If those two races go well, I'd like to do the Bear 100 in 2 years from this summer.

Long-Term Running Goals:

I'm not sure how much of a goal this is...it's more of a wish that's way towards the stars.  I'd like to eventually get good enough that I have offers to be sponsored as a runner. But my actual long term goals are:

1. A 100 miler   2.  Win an ultra marathon.  3.  Be apart of the 80 year old marathon runner club

Personal:

I'm single!  The only exciting thing going on in my life is I'm getting into trail running!

Did bunchgrass to white pine lake with Cody.  I felt great running to White Pine.  But, I think I over did it on the way up.  I went super slow on the way down.  Cody killed me.  He flew.  I'm a little disappointed I bonked but I am happy I did well on the way up

Did the canal trail to second dam.  After lasts nights run and 4.5 hours of sleep, I ran pretty slow.  That was my own fault.  Still keeping my hopes up that I can get better!

Ran on the road today.  Logan to hyde park and back.  Felt really sore after from the asphalt.  Went at a pretty slow pace for the road,  But I think I'm finally close to my prime again.

Took yesterday off to prepare for today.  Ran a later portion of the Bear 100 course with Cody.  We started at Franklin Basin.  Was going at a fairly comfortable yet fast pace (fast for me compared to the last two weeks).  Ran by some hunters on horses.  Nothing too out of the ordinary (nothing like shot gun pellets falling all around us).  Went down steep canyon (believe that is the name).  Got down to the Franklin Basin road and ended up crossing the river.  Went up Peter's Hollow (again, I think that was the name).  Eventually came up on the north side of Beaver Mountain.  Ran down and ended up at the Beaver Mountain Lodge.  Took a little break and ate some food.  Turned around and went back.  Instead of going up steep canyon, we turned and headed down the road back to the car (after Peter's hollow).  I felt so good.  Went at a great pace heading back from Beaver.  I can definitely tell that I'm pretty much back to normal

Did green canyon.  Not trying to brag, but I flew.  I didn't time myself cause I didn't have a watch.  But, I know I went the fastest I've ever gone on green.  Felt so good.  Passed some bikers on my way up.  Kept up with what looked like a good biker.  I definitely felt great today

Did canal trail to a little past second dam run.  Flew at first....maybe cause I had to poop super bad right away so I booked it to first dam's toilet (had to stop 5 times along the way to clentch my legs together).  After that I slowed down a bit.  Felt it a little after yesterday's fast pace.  Still went at a good pace.

Did the normal Tuesday road run.  After the back of my knee started hurting a little.  I think I'll take the next two days off to make sure I'm not injured on Friday so I won't have to bail on Cody

Today was Cody's big day.  I started around 1 p.m. with him at Right hand fork.  He came into the aid station a little behind what he was hoping for.  We took off and headed to temple fork.  On this section we walked a good majority of the up hill.  Cody's glute and left leg was in a lot of pain on the uphills.  But down hill he felt all right.  We got to Temple fork and he ate some soup and took a quick three minute break.  Then we headed up blind hollow towards Tony Grove.  Again we walked a good majority of the uphill.  Cody was in a lot of pain.  He kept talkng about how he wasn't sure if he was going to be able to finish.  He was pretty sure that he was going to drop at Tony Grove.  Then he joking said "I can force myself to run you know."  Then he took off at a good pace for a good ten seconds.  After that, something happened to the guy.  We got to the Aid, Beth gave him a massage, and we left.  He said he was feeling a lot better.  At this point it was pretty cold and snowy.  We ran most of this section.  I'm dang proud of that guy.  Eventually we go towards the bottom of this section.  Beth was waiting for us a little bit away from the end.  She had a camera and took pictures.  They had me run ahead to warn everyone that Cody was close.  We both got there, I said goodbye, then Joe and Cody took off.  About an hour later, Tim from england showed up, then him and I took off towards Logan River (from Franklin Basin).  Tim was really sore.  We walked pretty much all of this route.  Tim was way cold and he couldn't get moving fast enough to warm up.   About two miles from the aid, Tim told me he was going to drop.  He asked me to run ahead and radio the next aid station to inform his girlfriend he was done.  After I did that, I then ran three miles down the road to meet his girlfriend by the highway.  During this section, I spotted some "reflectors" off to the side with my head lamp.  They blinked at me then charge me.  Haha I was pretty scared for my life.  But I eventually saw they were cows (grateful they weren't moose or bears).  But I got to the road and had to wait about 20 minutes for his girlfriend.  The temperature was about 28 degrees at this point....I got way cold.  His girlfriend showed up at a very crucial time.  I was shaking and so so cold.  We went back to Logan River and I went and chilled in the First aid tent with Tim.  We were both trying to warm up.  Then they took me to Beaver Mountain so I could ride home with my friends who were waiting there for me. It was a great run!  I had fun.  I'm happy I was able to meet and run with Tim.  I'm looking forward to doing it next year!  Hopefully no snow and cold though.
